How much does a fly screen repair cost on the Gold Coast? (2026 guide)

Short answer: on the Southern Gold Coast and Tweed Coast in 2026, re-meshing a window screen costs about $60 to $120, re-meshing a sliding screen door $140 to $240, and a new hinged aluminium screen door supplied and fitted $320 to $550. Roller replacement on a sliding door sits around $110 to $190. Those are our guide prices, including GST, and we confirm the exact figure before we start.

What drives the price

Size. A standard 2,100 x 900 mm door uses more mesh and spline than a 600 x 900 mm window screen.
Mesh type. Standard fibreglass is cheapest. Pet mesh, midge mesh and stainless mesh cost more per metre.
Frame condition. A bent or corroded aluminium frame can't be re-meshed cleanly and needs replacing.
Hardware. Rollers, handles, latches and guides on sliding doors are often the real problem, not the mesh.
How many. Doing five screens in one visit costs much less per screen than five separate call-outs.

Rule of thumb: if the frame is straight and the corners are tight, re-mesh it. If the frame is bent, pitted or the corners have let go, replace it.

Which mesh lasts near the beach

Standard fibreglass mesh is the default for good reason: it doesn't corrode, it's cheap and it's easy to replace. Aluminium mesh looks crisp when new but pits and powders in salt air within a few years, so we avoid it from Burleigh down to Byron. If you have dogs or kids pushing on the door, a heavier polyester pet mesh or a stainless mesh is worth the extra. Midge mesh, with its finer weave, suits homes near Currumbin Creek, the Tweed River and Cudgen Creek where sandflies are the problem.

Repair or replace?

A screen door is worth repairing if the aluminium frame is straight and the corner stakes are solid. Rollers, handles and mesh are all cheap parts. It's worth replacing if the frame is bowed so it never sits in the track, if it's badly pitted, or if it's a cheap unit that's already had two rounds of repairs. A new hinged door is often only $100 to $200 more than repeatedly patching an old slider.
